When to Start Thinking About Your Wedding Invitations
Hi everyone, I know it has been a while since a new blog post came your way. Lattice Tree Studio has been busy serving our brides during the prime wedding season! But after working with a lot of clients, and also the inquiries coming in from potential clients, I have noticed that a lot of brides tend to be a bit behind schedule for ordering their wedding invitations. I know there are a million little things to keep a track of while planning your wedding, so I just wanted to give you a few tips to make the invitation ordering process a little less stressful. In one of our previous blog posts Wedding Invitations 101: When to Mail Out Your Invitations, I discussed the timelines for mailing out your invitations (ideally 8 weeks prior to your wedding date for a local wedding, 10-12 weeks for destination weddings). However, actually ordering your wedding invitations should be much much earlier than 8 weeks. Start shopping for your wedding invitations at least 5 to 6 months out from your wedding date. If you are looking to have custom wedding invitations done, most custom designs take a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks turnaround time. Semi custom designs, like the ones we offer in our shop, take a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks to go through the proofing and printing process.
You also want to give yourself enough time to apply postage and stuff all the envelopes with the different pieces when your invitations are shipped to you. Also, if you are doing the envelope addressing yourself, this can get very time consuming. You have to check each guest's address and make sure you don't make any errors when hand addressing or printing the envelopes. There are a lot of components that are a part of the wedding invitation process that must be taken into account when ordering your invitations. For this reason, please order as early as possible.
A quick timeline for ordering your wedding invitations:
- Start shopping for wedding invitations at least 6 months out from your wedding day so that you can give yourself the option of doing fully custom or semi custom invitations.
- Make sure you plan to receive your wedding invitations at least 3 months before your wedding day so that you have time to address envelopes, stuff, and mail out.
